Everyone has a camera
There are cameras everywhere, whether it’s on someone’s phone or security. It’s a very different world from even 5 or 10 years ago. You have to be very careful when you are out. Any mistake you make, like getting in an argument or a fight, will be recorded and come back to haunt you. You could even be charged with a crime, such as assault, which would stop you from becoming a firefighter.
Many mistakes can be attributed to one thing – alcohol. As hard as it would be, you have to walk away from any type of confrontation. You might feel like a big wimp by doing so, but think about it – do you want to be the macho guy or woman at the time and get charged with an assault or do you want to be a firefighter?
Even if charges are dropped, it will cost you thousands of dollars in attorney fees if someone sues you for physical assault.
It doesn’t even have to be a physical assault. If you are recorded saying offensive or racial comments on someone’s cellphone, it could easily go viral and end your chances of becoming a firefighter.
Think about it - it’s just not worth it.
