REASONS FOR FIREFIGHTER PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAM FAILURES
- Applicants who have trouble controlling their emotions and tempers.
- Applicants who show a disregard for others’ feelings.
- Applicants who may question a supervisor’s authority or have a problem with that authority.
- Individuals who have an anti-social personality and prefer to work alone in situations.
- Applicants who show a high degree of anxiety and could have difficulty dealing with that anxiety in emergency situations.
- Applicants who make their own decisions regardless of what the team is trying to accomplish.
- May have somewhat unconventional beliefs and attitudes.
- Might become restless when he/she has to work with others for a long period of time.
- Thinks it is important to be independent and direct his/her own life.
- Describes himself/herself as suspicious; as a consequence, he/she is likely to be suspicious of the motives of others.
- Describes himself/herself as anxious and having difficulties dealing with stress.
- Applicants who make their own decisions regardless of what the team is trying to accomplish.
- May be unusually sensitive to criticism.
- Applicant does not appear to worry about what others think of him/her; moreover, he/she does not seem to need their support or favorable opinions of him/her.
- Profile suggests that he has a preference for self-sufficiency.
