You always want to put yourself in the best possible position to be hired by a fire department. Many departments across the country require you to be an EMT, Paramedic and/or a Certified Firefighter to even apply for the process.
It will take approximately 8 months – 2 years to complete all these certifications. Most important, it will put you in a much better position to be hired by a department with those requirements.
It comes down to how bad you want it. Are you willing to put the time in to prepare yourself to be in the best position to be hired?
